Making your ink last the full two weeks
A little care in the first day decides most of how long a design stays crisp. The rules are few, and none of them are complicated.
A DraftedSkin design spends its first day and a half settling into your skin — the wet teal you walked out with darkens into blue-black as it develops. How you treat it during those hours, and in the days after, decides whether it spends week two looking sharp or looking tired. Here is everything that matters.
The first hours decide the fortnight
Apply the design to clean, dry skin — no lotion, no sunscreen, nothing on the surface. Press it down with a wet cloth for a full sixty seconds, longer than feels necessary, then peel the paper away slowly. For the next 24 to 36 hours, keep it dry and leave it alone while it develops. Every time you soak it early, you interrupt that process.
Wash like you mean it, gently
After the development window, wash the area with mild soap and water, then pat it dry — never scrub. From here on the ink sits in the top layer of your skin, and everything you do to that layer happens to the design. Exfoliating washes, loofahs and rough towels all take weeks off its life.
Friction is the only real enemy
Water doesn’t wear the ink out — rubbing does. Waistbands, watch straps, bag handles and shoe collars are where designs go blurry first. If you love a specific spot on your wrist, expect it to fade faster than the same design on your forearm, simply because wrists live in cuffs.
The ink fades the way a real tattoo heals — gradually, and on its own schedule. Your job is not to hurry it.
Moisture helps, chlorine doesn’t
A light, fragrance-free moisturizer keeps the skin underneath supple and the design looking fresh. Long soaks, saunas and chlorinated pools soften the top layer of skin, so treat swim day as the day your design starts its graceful exit — not the end of the world, just good to know in advance.
When it’s time to let go
Around day ten to fourteen the design will have faded into a soft ghost of itself. You can let it go on its own, or speed things up with gentle exfoliation over a few days. Either way, the skin underneath is exactly as it was — and there is another draft waiting to take its place.
